Viking Advantage
The newest Student Outreach Services program, Viking Advantage, provides an important network of support for first-year students. This academic support program connects students to campus resources and provides inclusive social activities, family integration, and personalized academic guidance – giving students the “advantage” to get ahead.

Viking Advantage students benefit from:
- a free Early Move-In Orientation
- an upper-classman peer mentor during the first year
- first-to-know for scholarships and leadership opportunities
- an assigned Academic Support Coordinators for ongoing personal and academic support
Many Viking Advantage students will meet their Academic Support Coordinator and peer mentors at Summerstart, creating a positive connection with the campus community from the start.
Enrollment in Viking Advantage is limited to students invited by Student Outreach Services, usually based on leadership potential, financial aid eligibility, and academic preparedness.
