New Playwrights’ Theatre is the division of Western’s theatre department dedicated to encouraging student playwrights and the development of never before seen, original plays.

Every quarter, we produce a new series of scripts in a staged reading format with opportunities for "talk backs" with the playwrights to ask questions tell them what you think. NPT is the only organization in the department that focuses entirely on script development and encouraging the emergence of new playwrights within the university.
