Welcome from the Department Chair

Welcome to the exciting UNPRECEDENTED 2006-2007 Theatre Season at Western Washington University.  This year we are excited to offer you a season of theatre that is completely selected, directed, designed, built, lit, crewed, and acted by our students.  As WWU Theatre Arts undergraduate program hits an all time high enrollment, we offer our students caring mentorship and the opportunity to independently practice on the stage what we teach in the classroom.  I am proud that our students have chosen topics of theatre that have through-provoking and contemporary themes such as the events of the Holocaust, studies in spirituality, women’s aspirations, working class America, and love and loss.  Each play selected has aspects of great storytelling regarding the power of the human experience.

We also offer other theatre events such as New Playwrights Theatre, Student Theatre Productions, the Multicultural Outreach Tour, and many other events in theatre and performance.  All of these opportunities guarantee our students, staff, faculty, and community excellence in teaching, learning, and practicing the art of theatre.
