Position Description: Peer Study Skills Tutor
Reports to: Tutoring Center Coordinator
Salary: The starting wage for a new tutor is $8.07 per hour. This pay rate is within the Tutor I pay range as determined by the Student Employment Center. After completing training or three quarters of employment, tutors may be elevated to the Tutor 2 pay range.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Adaptable in high-paced work environment
- Openess to training and skills development
- Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups and in front of large audiences;
- strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
- Availability to work 10 to 14 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Present study skills workshops to small and large student groups during fall orientation and throughout the year. Will include some evening hours.
- Be available to work during the week prior to the start of Fall quarter to prepare and conduct workshops during new student orientation.
- Facilitate study group formation for selected GUR courses. This facilitation includes making class announcements and conducting organizational meetings.
- Work independently to develop and refine study skills workshops.
- Assist in the development of handouts, reference materials, and web information.
