Study Skills - Test Taking

Predicting Test Questions
Have you ever had a hard time
remembering what the main points of a chapter were when you are
studying for a test? There is an easy way to get around that and it
won’t take much time to do!
The first step is to take a blank sheet
of paper for each of your classes and label it "Possible Test
Questions" (or some other similar label). Then when you are in
class, just mark your notes with a star or some other symbol when
the professor is talking about something that seems to be a key
point. After class, when you are reviewing your notes, you can
write these topics down on your "Possible Test Questions" page. You
can do the same thing when you are reading a textbook. Mark
important areas with a symbol and after you have read the chapter,
go back through and transfer the key information onto your sheet.
You can either list topics to review on
the "Possible Test Questions" page or you can write down specific
questions. Make sure to reference each topic or question with a page
number in the book or your notes so you can look up additional
information if you want to.
By doing this you are creating a study
guide for yourself in advance. When it comes time for a test, you
have a homemade reference of key points and ideas!
