Time Management

Getting the most out of your time requires good time management, which starts with deciding what you want to get done.
Write out your goals and dreams.
Figure out where you are right now in terms of achieving your goals, and list the steps you will take to reach them. For example, one step might be consulting an expert—e.g. an academic advisor, a successful student—to get another perspective on the process.

Pick up a quarterly calendar from the Tutoring Center
Write in the quarter's tests, quizzes, assignments, and other important events. Include birthdays, travel plans, and socializing, so you allow adequate time for recreation as well.
The TC also has weekly calendars, on which you should enter class and work hours, study groups and individual study time, and other regularly occuring activities. As a rule of thumb, students should schedule two hours of study time for each hour in class, though specific classes may require more or less study time.

Get in the habit of writing "To Do" lists and checking them when you study
Now that you know what you need to accomplish, break down large goals and steps into a list of smaller tasks that you can consult whenever you sit down to study. Prioritize the tasks so you know which to do first, and cross them off as you complete them in order to stay motivated and to combat procrastination.
Many students find the assignment planner from the WWU Library to be a useful tool when creating a schedule and a "To Do" list.
