Washington State Public Funding of WWU
As a public university, Western receives support from the state of Washington for students. For the 2004-2005 academic year, the average total cost of attendance for a resident undergraduate student was $8,088, of which the state provided $4,760, or 58.9 percent. The 2004-2005 average total cost of attendance for a resident graduate student was $11,954, of which the state provided $7,178 or 60.0 percent. Non-resident undergraduate students paid $12,341 in tuition and fees and non-resident graduate students paid $15,264 in tuition and operating fees.
In addition, the state provided financial aid at an average of $795 per resident undergraduate student; $166 per resident graduate student; $30 per non-resident undergraduate; and $320 per non-resident graduate student.
