WWEAMS (PA-178)
features Macintosh and Windows computer music workstations that allow student
and faculty composers to record, edit, arrange, and mix MIDI and audio; create
sounds from scratch; and explore digital signal processing, algorithmic
composition, and object-oriented programming. Vintage instruments include Emu
Modular and ARP 2500 synthesizers. Electroacoustic concerts are given annually
at Western, and students may program EA works on regular composition recitals
as well.
In addition to
WWEAMS, the Music Instructional Technology lab
(PA-168) houses 15 Intel iMac stations with General MIDI keyboards and a
variety of software.
