Western's Leadership Advantage, after studying best practices, has collaborated with the campus Career Services Center to implement e-portfolio software and services for use as a leadership e-portfolio for our campus. Students can access the WWU account for Online resume building and creating their Leadership E-portfolio at the following link:

SAMPLE LEADERSHIP E-PORTFOLIOS

During the summer, 2009, several students and a 2008 WWU graduate piloted the WLA Leadership E-folio. Here are six examples of beginning WWU leadership e-folios:

Stephanie Jones is a young WWU alumna who studied psychology in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She served WWU as a campus leader and graduated from the WLA VIP Scholar program.	Maggie Chappel is a Junior at WWU, graduated from the WLA VIP scholar leader 1-year program, and has done a lovely range of leadership activities in high school and at WWU:

Negin Shahrvini is a young WWU alumna who studied psychology in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. At WWU she also completed an internship focused on Diversity in Higher Education with the WLA office. She currently works as a Customer Service Representative at Tom’s Shoes in California.	Luis Ibarra received his MBA from the College of Business and Economics, and he completed a graduate assistantship with Western's Leadership Advantage in 2009-2010:

Janna Cecka is a WWU alumna with an undergraduate degree from Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies and she the program coordinator at the Ethnic Student Center:	Jason Kloster is a WWU alumnus with an undergraduate degree in management from the College of Business and Economics, and has his own business providing coaching and teaching leadership to youth:

Our goal is to implement a leadership e-portfolio that builds on and complements the existing portfolio processes utilized in various academic areas across campus, strengthens student leadership learning, and enhances our graduates' abilities to achieve their career and post-baccalaureate educational goals.

WHY A LEADERSHIP E-PORTFOLIO?

Various colleges and universities across the country utilize aleadership experiential transcript or a leadership portfolio so that students can track their leadership experiences. We have investigated existing software that provides capability and media options for students' to compile and illustrate their leadership learnings at Western. The leadership experiential transcript accomplishes two goals for students:

For graduating students to be able to document their considerable acquisition of leadership experiences (and learning) while on campus, which would assist entry into career paths and/or graduate/professional training programs with a competitive advantage, and
To provide the possibility for an electronic document that both guides reflection about leadership learning, and makes leadership learning more explicit through a documentation process. An e-portfolio distills a student’s leadership efforts, progress, and achievement, as well as plans for continued development.
