Juana Bordas is president of Mestiza Leadership International in Denver and vice president of the board of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership. Salsa, Soul, and Spirit: Leadership for a Multicultural Age is her first book and has received compelling endorsements from experts in the leadership field and from Latino, Black, and American Indian leaders, as well as being awarded the The International Latino Book Award for the best business book in 2008. A former faculty member for the Center for Creative Leadership, she taught in the Leadership Development Program (LDP) - the most highly utilized executive program in the world. A dynamic national speaker and trainer, Juana weaves leadership, diversity, and community building into a multicultural tapestry. She utilizes music, movement and leadership practices to illustrate the richness and wisdom diversity brings.
She is a contributing author to Reflections on Leadership: How Robert K. Greenleaf’s Theory of Servant-Leadership Influenced Today’s Top Management Thinkers. Juana currently also serves on the board of the International Leadership Association. Juana is one of the 100 distinguished Leadership panelists contributing regularly at The Washington Post's online forum for discussion of what makes for great leadership and how is leadership shaping the news, On Leadership. She is a member of the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame and was honored with Denver's 2008 Martin Luther King Jr. Socially Responsibility Award.
Juana is a founder of Mi Casa Women's Center and served as executive director. Today, Mi Casa is recognized as a national model for women's empowerment. She has been honored as a Wise Woman by the National Center for Women and Policy Studies. She is founding president/CEO of the National Hispana Leadership Institute, the only program in America that prepares Latinas for national leadership. Almost 500 outstanding Latina leaders have now completed this program. In 2000, she founded The Circle of Latina Leadership to train "the next generation of Latina Leaders."
She recently served as advisor to Harvard's Hispanic Journal on Public Policy and the Kellogg National Fellows Program. A former Peace Corps volunteer, Juana received the Franklin Miller Award from the U.S. Peace Corps for her lifelong commitment to advancing communities of color and the Leadership Legacy Award from Spellman College's Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement. Juana has worked for a number of Fortune 500 companies including Coors Brewing Company, Chevron, Dial Corporation, and Texas Instruments. She has also assisted government agencies, airports, and nonprofits enhance their leadership capacity and groom the potential of their growing diversity.

was an event open to all students. They experienced a range of accomplished alumni and parents describing their leadership journeys, their work in the world, in business and industry, internationally, locally, making change.

| Project Leadership: Leadership Week, 25-28 |
Leadership for What? was followed by Project Leadership Week, a series of events, student-planned and student-driven, which included a Leadership Lock-In on Saturday night, Jan. 23rd, midday sessions and evening sessions, Monday - Thursday, Jan. 25-28, 2010. Western's Leadership Advantage 2008-09 Events

During spring quarter 2009, Western's Leadership Advantage hosted Michael Jones, pianist/composer, author of Artful Leadership and Senior Research Fellow from the James McGregor Burns Academy of Leadership, University of Maryland.
Our evening included music, story, and 3 rounds of interactive dialogue:- the story of I,
- the story of us, and
- the larger story of the whole
- using our artistry and leadership to serve
At the three afternoon sessions, Michael played piano, told story, recited poetry, and made the connection between leadership and the commons of the imagination.

| Project Leadership: Winter Quarter 2009 |
During winter quarter 2009, Western's Leadership Advantage joined with Associated Students and others for a leadership week on campus: Project Leadership: Discover Your Style. On Tuesday, February 10th, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room, AS, WLA and others hosted Yes We Can: The Call to Leadership in Communities of Color featuring:

During fall quarter 2008, University Residences partnered with WLA to bring a speaker to campus. On Friday, October 31, 2008, Michael Benitez, Jr., spoke to students and the wider community on student empowerment.
Michael performed a couple of hip hop/spoken word pieces as a part of his lecture. He met with students in the afternoon and dinner to talk about student voice on campuses today.
