Fall: Web Design & Development
Level I: HTML, CSS & Javascript

An introduction to web design with an emphasis on essential markup and scripting languages. Students will create a multi-page website using HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript. Students will hand-code their web documents rather than relying on a web editor in order to gain a firm grasp of web-scripting syntax. The course is a hybrid course with weekly face-to-face sessions and corresponding online resources and assignments. More on level 1


Winter: Web Design & Development
Level II: Intro to WordPress   

An introduction to web publishing with WordPress. Students will create a WordPress site on their own hosting account. The course is a hybrid course with weekly face-to-face sessions and corresponding online resources and assignments. More on level 2

Spring: Web Design & Development
Level III: Advanced WordPress   

This course is designed to advance students’ understanding of WordPress as a web-development platform. We will focus on more advanced WordPress concepts, such as custom page templates, custom post types, template tags, custom queries, and use of The Loop to control the presentation of content. By the end of the quarter, students will have designed a custom WordPress theme from the ground up on their own hosting account. The course is a hybrid course with weekly face-to-face sessions and corresponding online resources and assignments. More on level 3
