Courses

Living Between the Tides

Explore the intertidal area of Liberty Bay and visit the Poulsbo Marine Science Center to investigate how invertebrates have adapted to live between the tides. You will examine the different intertidal habitats and learn the important factors that affect their survival. Participants will also identify marine invertebrates and discover the different ways they compete for space and food while avoiding predators.

Physical activity level: Moderate to high; the course will include two field trips
Instructor:  Helle Anderson

Hoot, Hoot, Who Wants to Dissect Owl Pellets?

Join this ecological adventure and learn about the world of owls.  In the bone zone, we'll dissect owl pellets to explore their diet and digestion as you identify owl prey and build a food web. We'll also use Google Earth to map owl habitats and create your own owl ecology mash-up to share.

Physical activity level: Low
Instructor: Tami Barry
