Science Exploration

Start the morning with enrichment activities that encourage exploration and discovery utilizing University classrooms, labs and equipment. Morning enrichment will focus on science and provide an opportunity for local and international Korean youth to build connections. Science themes will include the International Space Station, sight and sound, and vehicle design.  Lunch in Western’s all-you-can-eat cafeteria (except Wednesday) and a field trip on Wednesdays are included at no additional cost. JLS Academy sponsors students from Korea and underwrites some program costs.

The afternoon will be filled with recreation activities in the award winning Wade King Student Recreation Center (WKSRC) and athletic fields, including swimming, rock climbing, archery, crafts and much more. The blend of academics and recreation provides an engaging and fun learning environment unique to a college campus.

Students are divided into classrooms to ensure an adult to student ratio of 1:10.

What to bring:

  • Two snacks and refillable water bottle; bring a lunch on Wednesdays
  • Sack lunch for Wednesday field trips
  • Attire for swimming and sporting activities (swimsuit, towel, tennis shoes)
  • Sunscreen and any other sports gear
