Solid Waste

Solid wastes are discarded materials. Solid wastes may be regulated as dangerous under Chapter 173-303 of the Washington Administrative Code, or they may be non-dangerous scrap, paper, textiles, rubber or food waste. Western recycles a number of solid wastes such as aluminum cans, paper, and glass through the Associated Students Recycle Center. Facilities management recycles a number of building materials such as waste metals.

If you have questions about the proper disposal of a particular waste material, which you believe may be a solid waste, please contact the Environmental Health and Safety office for consultation prior to disposal.
