Equal Opportunity Statements Required in University Publications
Multiple federal laws require that university publications – including applications, job advertisements, event posters, brochures, magazines, newsletters – contain clear notices of equal opportunity/non-discrimination obligations. Required notices also provide important information about how to request relevant disability accommodations.
To guide university offices in including the required information in their many publications, the Equal Opportunity Office provides Guidelines for Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Statements in University Publications. These Guidelines are provided online, and a downloadable PDF is also available. It is the responsibility of offices generating publications to be sure they include the required statements. Departments are encouraged to contact the EO Office if they have questions about these Guidelines.
