A Message from the Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Employment Diversity, Title IX & ADA Coordinator
Greetings. The Winter issue of the EO Office Newsletter highlights the Provost’s Diversity & Inclusion Hiring Initiative launched in Fall quarter. It also provides information about two voluntary resolution agreements Western recently entered into with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. One regards the accessibility of Western’s website for individuals with disabilities. The other focuses on accommodations in University Residences for students with disabilities.
The Winter EO Office Newsletter also shares resources publicizing the locations of the more than 40 gender neutral restrooms that now exist in 22 campus buildings, and information about Western’s ongoing commitment to robust adherence to Title IX despite the U.S. Department of Education relaxing its guidance in this area.
For faculty, we share excellent resources from the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and the Center for Instructional Innovation & Assessment, including equal opportunity and inclusion information in your syllabi and beyond. For all departments, we highlight required and optional training opportunities, as well as available posters and handouts for students, staff and faculty about civil rights at Western.
