Winter 2018 Newsletter
The EO Office provides trainings and facilitated conversations on numerous topics related to equal opportunity, affirmative action, diversity and inclusion.
All new employees are required to complete Haven for Faculty and Staff, an online training about sexual violence prevention and response. This training is also available to any employee whose employment at Western began before this training opportunity was implemented.
In-person Sexual Harassment Prevention Training is required for all new permanent employees, and strongly encouraged for other employees. People can register for an upcoming training session by going to Western’s Training website and clicking on “Equal Opportunity Office.” Upcoming training dates are:
- Thursday, March 15 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in VU 567
- Wednesday, April 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in VU 567
Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action in Classified Staff Searches is geared towards members of classified staff search committees and hiring authorities for these positions who have not recently attended search briefings provided by the Equal Opportunity Office for professional staff or faculty search committees. The training is being offered on April 18 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in VU 462A. A description of the training, and registration for the session, are here.
Many other trainings are available at the request of departments. Contact L.K. Langley, Manager of Equal Opportunity Programs, for more information.
