12/3/09

ACCEPTED with  PROVISO that Commissioners return in the future to the policy of whether it is appropriate to use “and/or permission of instructor”.     The concern is that faculty may disallow students in class who have met all the prerequisites; other students without prerequisites may take up class space from majors.  It is expected that the new Banner 8 may provide a computer gateway that sorts students requiring the course for graduation from those students taking the course as an elective or without the necessary prereqs, and thus relieve faculty from the possibility of error in approving students to take the course.
