Biography

Rick Merrill is a choreography, dancer, writer and teacher. He began dancing with Allison Chase and Pilobolus Dance Theater while attending Darmouth College and continued his studies with Barbara Lloyd Dilley and other pioneering teachers and performers at Naropa Institute. At Trungpa Rinpoche, as well as Taie Chi Chuan. In New York City he studied contemporary, modern and classical dance. He worked professionally for fifteen years in NYC as a performer and collaborator. In recent years Merrill's work has evolved as a collage form of physical theater. Incorporating spoken text, dramaturgy, character and narrative development, its imagery and energies remain anchored in the physical, the body moving in a landscape of memory, dream and daily life.
