Biography

Born and raised in India (of American Parents), John Riber completed university film studies in the United States in 1977 and immediately set off for Asia where he spent the next ten years making independent films in Bangladesh and India. 

 

John moved to Zimbabwe in 1987 where he established Media for Development Trust (MFD), what was one of Africa's leading film/radio production and distribution houses.  Since 2004 John has been living in Tanzania where he established a branch office of MFD in Dar es Salaam.

 

During his career John has worked as a Film Lab Technician, Cameraman, Editor, Scriptwriter and most notably Producer of the award winning African feature films, Neria, More Time, Everyone's Child and Director of Yellow Card and feature documentary Shanda.
