Western's Back 2 Bellingham Alumni and Family Weekend May 13-16 Packed with Reunions, Activities, Fun Events

(April 08, 2010) Fairhaven College: A National Model for Innovation in Learning. "Fairhaven College stories will be a highlight of the weekend, with speakers including Jerry Flora, WWU’s president at the time of the college’s founding, and Fairhaven College Dean Roger Gilman. The college is also collecting students’ own stories and memories, both in the form of oral histories to gather that weekend and trivia questions to share during the celebration. Fairhaven also will be the site for the two-day Endfair Music Festival, featuring rock ‘n roll, hip hop, pop and more, all in support of the Bellingham Slum Doctor program. WWU's Adventure Learning Grant Program To Send Students to the Andes, Balkans and Central America

(March 18, 2010) "The most recent grant recipients are Susannah Arnhart, daughter of Kirk Arnhart and Sherry Bess of Seattle; Kelsey Beckmeyer, daughter of Jim and Debbie Dumont of Walla Walla; and North Campbell, son of Kathy and Craig Campbell of Port Orchard. The ALG is a $15,000 grant awarded annually to three students within Fairhaven. Any student enrolled in Fairhaven is eligible to receive the grant, so long as they have completed two quarters and commit to returning to Fairhaven for three quarters upon completion of their trip. This year's ALG recipients will be venturing off to such far-flung locales as the Andes, the Balkans and Central America..." Read more >

WWU Students in the Dominican Republic Working to Assist in Haitian Aid Relief

(February 04, 2010) Fairhaven faculty member Larry Estrada scheduled a quarter-long course in the Dominican Republic long before the earthquake hit Haiti on January 12th. His students started a blog, "Intercambia Hispaniola," about their experiences there, including some time doing relief work. Read more >
