Narrative Self-Evaluations
Instructions for current students: How to submit a self-evaluation on WEB4U
1. Login to Web4U
- Login to Web4U
- Go to Student Services and Financial Aid
- Go to Student Records
- Scroll to last menu and click on Fairhaven
- Click on Current Quarter Self-Evaluations
You'll see a list of all Fairhaven courses you are currently enrolled in. Next to each course name you'll see a status indicator indicating: Not started, In progress, Sent to faculty, Completed or Locked.
2. Click on the course title
An evaluation form appears.
The form has the following elements:
Your name, W#, your e-mail address , term, Class name, CRN, Credits attempted, Credits earned (currently blank), Faculty name, Advisor name (Should be FAIRHAVEN advisor). You will not see the faculty text box.
3. Write your evaluation
- How to write a Self-Evaluation
- Either type or paste data into the box. Should accept smart text from Word.
- YOU ARE LIMITED TO 4,000 CHARACTERS--including spaces. The form has a counter to let you know when you have reached the 4000 character limit. If you are composing in WORD, use the "Word Count" tool and it will let you know how many letter characters you have used, however, this program also counts punctuation, spaces and formatting as characters, so you will need to edit the WORD document to about 3,500 characters.
4. Save a Draft--at least every 10 minutes.
- the button at the bottom allows you to save a draft. You can come back and edit. Save often, as this program will time out after 10 minutes and you may lose text if you don't save it.
5. Submit Self Evaluation!
- Once you click this button, your evaluation will automatically go to the faculty's Web4U box. You should see the status marker change. Once the faculty have completed their portion of the evaluation and locked the form, you should be able to view the completed evaluation. If the faculty member decides your evaluation needs to be revised, the will send it back to you and this status marker will change back.
Your Fairhaven Evaluation History
This link will take you to your evaluations from previous quarters. These will be read-only files. (Currently most will say "No record" because we have not yet transferred the data from all the previous e-forms). There is a notation to say that all evaluations prior to 2002 will be available in paper files. FAIR 305 should say "no evaluation required." You also should see a Link to Academic history – clicking on the link should take you to your WWU Academic history.
Self-evaluations prior to Spring 2007
If you see status bars that say NOT STARTED, this means that old evaluations (prior to Spring 2007) have not yet been converted into the new system. Contact Kathy Johnson (Kathy.johnson@wwu.edu) if you need these old evaluations converted.
Course Evaluations
Students are required to also evaluate their Fairhaven classes. Course evaluations will be distributed in your Fairhaven class, usually in the final week of the quarter.
These evaluations are provided to each faculty for their review after the course credit awards have been submitted. Once the faculty member has read these evaluations, they are collected an retained for review by the college Personnel Committee. Permanent faculty are formally reviewed by this committee once every three years, using these evaluations, among other information.
