About The Outback Farm

The Outback is a joint program of Fairhaven College and the Associated Students of Western Washington University. Founded in 1972, the Outback Farm is a five acre student-run site at the south end of Fairhaven College which teaches, develops and implements sustainable growing and land use methods in order to enrich the student body, the University, and the Bellingham community.

L.E.A.D.

The L.E.A.D. porgram (Learning, Environment, Action, Discovery) connects the Bellingham community, Western Washington University students, and the Bellingham School Districts through environmental service learning projects. Currently, L.E.A.D. is working on a stream restoration project.

The Amphitheatre

Students began designing and building the Outback Amphitheatre to be a performance stage, located at the Southeast end of the Outback Farm.

 

Go check it out, the goal is to be finished near the end of Spring Quarter, 2009!

The Gardens

The Outback gardens are maintained and coordinated entirely by students. There are four main garden projects:

The Community Garden, the Market Garden, the Herb Garden, and the Forest Garden.
