Help Yourself by Understanding How to Best Request & Track Your Work Requests
Backlog of Maintenance, Repair, Preservation or Renewal Definition (BMAR): A collection of non-programmatic projects typically funded from either operating and capital budgets, to safely maintain, preserve and renew facilities and related infrastructure for their current use that should have been accomplished, but for a variety of reasons have not been done.
For Academic Buildings, Utilities and Grounds
- Ordinary maintenance, preservation needs and renewal needs are backlogged within the Work Request tracking system and the Backlog of Maintenance and Repair (BMAR). For more information contact the Work Control Center, 650-3420.
- Backlog Reduction Plans - These plans are required within Western's 10 Capital Plan which is published each 2 year funding cycle.
- Washington State Comparable Framework for Higher Education - To bring backlogs within higher education to a common comparable condition assessment the state developed the Comparable Framework. This started as a charge through the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee, then was coordinated through the Higher Education Coordinating Board (HECB) and now falls under the responsibility of the Office of Financial Management (OFM).
For Auxiliary Facilities
- This is documented and managed by the auxiliary facilities managers. For more information about preservation and renewal of University Residence facilities contact 650-3556; or 650-3450 for Associated Student facilities or 650-4972 for the Wade King Recreational Center.
