60-Days To Making Your Reimbursement Tax Reportable!
To stay compliant with IRS Accountable Plan regulations Western has established Policy 5348.10 (Reimbursing Travel) and Policy 5348.12 (Reimbursing for University Business). Both policies state reimbursement is allowed if “reimbursement is requested within 60 days of purchase/travel completion or by July 15 for fiscal year end, whichever is sooner.” If you do not seek reimbursement for your expenses or travel expenses within 60 days of purchase or travel completion, your reimbursement becomes tax reportable. Please submit receipts for reimbursement well within the 60 day window to prevent this from happening.

Update On Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) Collection
To fully implement Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD), the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has instructed air carriers and travel agencies, beginning as early as June 15, 2010, to provide mandatory SFPD no later than 72-hours prior to departure or when making a reservation - whichever comes first. This is a change from the previous “optional” provision of data by passengers. We’ve been advised that flight firming automation may cancel ticketed reservations that do not include secure flight data by the 72-hour cutoff period without further liability to the airline.
The TSA has given each air carrier a specific deadline, over the next five months, to comply with the full implementation of SFPD. We strongly recommend, that at the point a reservation is created, the following SFPD information is collected:
Airlines or travel agencies acting on their behalf will gather a passenger's name, date of birth and gender when making an airline reservation to determine if the passenger is a match to the No Fly or Selectee lists. By providing the additional data elements of gender and date of birth, Secure Flight will more effectively help prevent misidentification of passengers who have similar names to individuals on a watch list and better identify individuals that may pose a threat to aviation.
The airline will transmit this information to Secure Flight, who uses it to perform watch list matching. This serves to prevent individuals on the No Fly List from boarding an aircraft and to identify individuals on the Selectee List for enhanced screening. After matching passenger information against government watch lists, Secure Flight transmits the matching results back to airlines.
