Registration First Aid

Registration First Aid for Returning Graduate Students

Your username is your student number: W________. Student numbers must begin with a capital W, and the other 8 digits are numbers (0, not o). Your original pin is the first 6 digits of your SSN, or birth date (MMDDYY) if you do not have a SSN.

You probably changed your PIN after first use for security reasons. If you did, and cannot remember it, you will need to contact the Registrar's Office and request that your PIN be reset.

If you have attempted and failed to login more than 5 times, your pin has been disabled, and must be reset by the Registrar's Office (a safety feature). Once reset, your pin will be your birth date in DDMMYY format, rather than MMDDYY (example: Jan 31, 1971 = 310171).

(for Fall Quarter, Spring or Summer will do)

If not, your student record may be inactive due to discontinuous attendance. You must submit a Returning Student Application (RSA) to the Graduate School office.

Check the Registration Schedule. You may be attempting to register too early (or too late!).

Graduate School hold: Have you submitted a Plan of Study?

Instructor Approval: Are you trying to register for a class that requires instructor approval?

Major Code: Is the class outside of your program?

Other Holds: Parking tickets? Overdue library book?

Contact the department that placed the hold and resolve it!

You'll need both departmental and Graduate School approval to register for thesis credits. Contact your program advisor, then the Graduate School.

Still can't register?

If you still cannot register, contact the Graduate School for assistance.
