Workshop Goals and Objectives:
The goal of the workshop is to educate the community and professionals on risk factors for three chronic diseases and to provide a range of illness prevention activities and strategies applied across the lifespan.
Specifically, after attending the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the impact of physical activity or inactivity on health status.
- Identify risk factors for diabetes, chronic heart disease and arthritis.
- Describe prevention activities for children, working adults and older adults.
- Discuss techniques of health and nutrition behavior change.
- Review recent study findings focused on the impact of anger on health behavior.
- Identify aspects of mentoring and support structures.
- Identify appropriate and effective physical activity opportunities for youth, working adults and older adults
- Discuss community-based health initiatives.
