HR’s primary function is to provide knowledge and resources to the Western community, to promote success in support of Western’s mission and goals. HR develops and empowers the Western community through innovative and adaptive partnerships, which include the leadership, community, labor leadership, colleagues, LGBT, minority employee council, and many others.

The Human Resources staff is committed to providing best-in-class service. HR supports the University mission and goals by engaging employees and providing knowledge and resources to promote excellence through engagement. HR serves as a model for diversity, equity and inclusion; ensures access to knowledge and resources; acts as continuous learners and strives for innovative improvement; creates and supports a culture of action-oriented wellness and uses active communication to embody a collaborative culture. Functional areas include: employee and labor relations; supervisory counseling/training; labor negotiations; wellness management; payroll processing; benefits processing and counseling; organizational and professional development; employment administration; human resources information system support; classification/compensation management; employment inclusion, and disability management.
