Wellness Program Instructors

Nancy Metcalf

PM Iyengar Style Instructor

Nancy began studying yoga as an undergraduate at Indiana University. In 2006 she received a BA in Psychology and moved to Washington the following summer with a behavioral neuro-science research team. Nancy dedicated herself to daily, independent yoga practice throughout this transition. In January of 2009 she began studying under Ingela Abbott and Lauron Ray at Yoga Northwest. She has completed a two-year, in-depth apprenticeship program with Ingela, a Senior Iyengar Yoga Instructor, and  has experience teaching both group and individual classes. She has also studied under senior Iyengar teachers, Julie Gudmestad, Joan White, Felicity Green, and John Schumacher.

Nancy believes that genuine health begins with self-awareness. She creates an up-beat, non-threatening environment for individuals to curiously find and challenge their "healthy edge". Her classes are grounded in the Iyengar method and focus on alignment-based, core-strengthening exercises to nurture, stretch and strengthen the whole being. She seeks to aid practitioners in cultivating a body awareness they can apply to all of life's activities.
