Welcome Prospective Students,
If you have come to this site you are probably thinking about a career in the environmental field. Whether you are interested in the natural sciences or the social sciences there is a growing global demand for properly trained environmental professionals capable of addressing the challenges we face in achieving a sustainable society. Huxley College of the Environment has a forty-year history of producing such leaders. At Huxley you will find a world-class faculty that are first and foremost teachers but also renowned researchers and scholars. At Huxley you will find a professional staff of advisors and technicians that will help guide you through your education. At Huxley you will also find engaged and committed students from throughout the United States and the world that share your concerns and passion for our environment. These are students who want to make a difference, and do so. Excellent faculty, committed staff and passionate students are reason enough to think of Huxley, but also important is our physical location.
Located between the Cascade Mountains to the east, the shores of Puget Sound to the west, Seattle to the south and Vancouver, British Columbia, to the north it can truly be said that there is no other place so unique in which to study the environment. Whether your interests are in urban planning or endangered species you can be “in the field” only minutes from campus. At Huxley you can look at an old growth forest of 800-year-old Alaskan yellow cedars in the morning, an Orca pod off one of the San Juan Islands in the afternoon and urban redevelopment in Vancouver or Seattle in the evening. At Huxley we promise you an applied education in nature's laboratory. The following web pages should answer many of your questions, but give us a call, or better yet, pay us a visit to answer any remaining questions and to see for yourself what a Huxley education could do for you … and the world.
