As director of Development for Huxley College of the Environment, Valum is responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of donors who seek to invest in student scholarships, special department projects and student research.
“Huxley is nationally recognized for its innovative programs and research. It is an exciting time to be involved!” Valum said.
During her career Valum has served as the founding chair of the Bellingham-Whatcom County Commission Against Domestic Violence and was a board member of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Other appointments included service on the Whatcom County Law & Justice Council and the Bellingham-Whatcom County Public Facilities District Board.
Over the years Valum has received numerous awards recognizing her public service, including the Soroptimist “Women Helping Women” award and the Bellingham Herald’s “Community Newsmaker of the Year” award. In 1995 she was a finalist for the Whatcom Women in Business “Professional Woman of the Year” award.
