I wanted to alert you to a terrific Emergency and Disaster Management Summer Internship being offered by Boeing. Last week at our Business and Industry Career Fair, I met with Mark Ligman, from Boeing’s Emergency Preparedness, Security and Fire Protection Department, and he specifically mentioned that he wants to recruit students from Huxley’s Disaster Reduction and Emergency Planning program. The intern will work with Mark and his staff to support multiple types of processes such as Boeing’s emergency evacuation plans and the Volunteer Disaster Preparedness/Responder program. Mark said that the internship offers experience in multiple disciplines which may include fire protection operations, emergency preparedness, automated-information security systems, education and training and special projects. 09/28/09: RE Sources is looking for a undergrad or graduate student to fill our Climate Change Outreach work study position for the entire school year. The person will be responsible for adapting the be cool climate change campaign (www.ImCool.info) for the Whatcom County faith community. They will also be responsible for recruiting churches, synagogues, etc. as well as program implementation. The student must be a motivated, intelligent, creative, efficient and personable person with a general knowledge of climate change and sustainability issues. Graphics skills would also be a plus, although not totally necessary. The job will require 8-10 hours a week and pays $15 an hour - the student needs to be qualified for WWU work study.
