Most of the SAL spatial data is organized on  J:\GEO\GEO_data by geographic region. In addition, spatial data can also be categorized by Type of data. Below is a brief listing of some of the more common data types in the SAL files.

Vector Data - shapefiles, coverages, geodatabases

Raster Data - GRIDS, Imagine files, Imagery (air photos, landsat)

Common Data Sets

DEM's (Digital Elevation Models) - primarily from the USGS (see the WA_USGS) folder

(Most of our DEM's are from UW's Raster Data Website: http://duff.geology.washington.edu/data/raster/ )

DRG's (Digital Raster Graphics, i.e., scanned Topo Quad maps) - from the USGS (see the WA_USGS) folder

DOQ's (Digital Ortho Quads, i.e., air photos) - from the USGS (see the WA_USGS) folder

Bathymetry (seafloor data models) - primarily stored in the NW_Region folder

Satellite data (Landsat, etc) - primarily stored in the NW_Region folder

Census data - primarily stored in the WA_Census folder

Soils data - primarily stored in the WA_State folder

Geologic data - primarily stored in the WA_State folder

Historical data - primarily stored in various 'Historical' sub-folders (e.g., Whatcom_County/Historical_WC or BHAM/Historical_Bham). See also Historical Data notes.
