The main Spatial Analysis Lab (AH-16), the Planning Studio (ES-318) and the auxiliary SAL labs (AH-14 and AH-24) include a suite of spatial software packages. Most of this software is also available on the podium computers in AH-14 and AH-30. All computers have ArcGIS 9.3.1 along with the core ArcGIS extensions (see also customizations to GIS software below). In addition, some computers have remote sensing, GPS and/or statistical software installed. Below is a list of software and customizations installed in the various labs.

Additional ArcGIS / ArcINFO User Interface Customizations ~ ~ ~

In addition to the core software and extensions installed (listed above), a few modifications have been made to the standard 'out-of-the-box' installation.

 

ArcGIS Customizations
    ◊ Added 'Stand Alone' license for ArcEditor (so ArcGIS can be run without a network connection to the license manager): to switch between ArcInfo and ArcEditor license levels use the batch files from the: Start \ Programs \ ArcGIS \ Select License Level \ menu
    ◊ Folder Connections* (Drive Mapping) for:
          C:\GISdata  (GIS data stored on the local computer)
          C:\Temp      (Local workspace with student access)
          J:\GEO\GEO_data    (Huxley's server for spatial data)
          J:\Saldata    (Huxley's server for class folders)
          U:\               (your personal "U" drive)
    ◊ ArcCatalog: Added file type .e00 (ArcINFO coverage or GRID exchange files)
    ◊ ArcMap: New data layers set to not be visible by default when added
    ◊ ArcMap: Added Buffer Wizard option to Tools menu
    ◊ ArcToolbox: Added WWU_Tools (custom toolbox of commonly used tools) 

*NOTE: you will need to manually establish a connection in ArcCatalog or ArcMap to access CD, DVD, USB or External drives. See Mapping & Connecting to Drives
