Tour of borderland infrastructure and issues from both the US and Canadian sides. Participants should ensure that they have proper documentation. Trip leader: John Belec, UCFV. Cost: $30.

Sustainable Agriculture in Whatcom County
Visits to local, sustainable agricultural operations around Whatcom County. Trip leader: Gigi Berardi, WWU. Cost $35.

Birds of the Campus Arboretum
The Sehome Hill Arboretum is a 180 acre natural forest habitat cooperatively managed by The City of Bellingham and Western Washington University. The Arboretum is bounded by Western Washington University and residential neighborhoods of Bellingham. The Arboretum is home to a diverse collection of native plants and animals. The Arboretum has several miles of trails over varied terrain and an observation tower with views of Bellingham and the surrounding area.
Tour leaves from Environmental Studies Department (Arntzen Hall 217 -- see map section) at 10am sharp. Please take a bus to campus, walk, park in the Lincoln Creek Transportation Center and pay for the bus ride to campus, or pay for your parking at the Campus Parking Services/Information Office (FINES ARE AGGRESSIVELY ENFORCED). Mount Baker and the Nooksack Valley

Downtown Bellingham and Waterfront Re-development

Urban re-development and social geographies in a small American city. Special focus on re-development of the former Georgia-Pacific mill site. Trip leaders: Michael Medler and Debnath Mookherjee, WWU.
The trip will leave from the front of City Hall in dowtown Bellingham at 10am. There will be a two hour walking tour of downtown, followed by a one hour lunch break at noon - maps of dining locations will be distributed by trip leaders. After lunch, participants will gather at 1pm at City Hall (210 Lottie St.) for a two hour tour of the waterfront redevelopment site. Click here for a map locating City Hall.
IMPORTANT FEILDTRIP PARKING INFORMATION
All fieldtrips except for "Downtown Bellingham and Waterfront" and "Birds of the Arboretum" will leave from WWU's Lincon Creek Transportation Center which is located on Lincoln St., East of I-5, Exit 252 (WWU). From Southbound I-5, take exit 252, turn left on Samish, and left at Lincoln. Lincoln Creek Transportation Center parking is on the right. From Northbound on I-5, take exit 252, turn left onto Samish Way. At Elwood, go forward onto Lincoln St. Lincoln Creek Transportation Center parking is on the right. Click here for a map.
