April 2013: Prof. Jason Morris was chair of the IDSA Western design conference, Designer As Entrepreneur, Long Beach, CA

Larisa Schulze is awarded the IDSA student merit award for exceptional graduating senior.

Prof. Arunas Oslapas begins his sabbatical leave in Mexico working with local craftspeople and designers.

March 2013: Sadly, ID program founder, Marvin Southcott, dies. Thanks Marvin for your bold initiative!

ID seniors complete an industry sponsored project with Anvil studios, Inc.

November 2012: ID junior Jessie Wixom wins 3rd place in the International Rotomolders Association student design competition.

September 2012: Prof. Jason Morris begins his professional leave focusing on the research, writing and production of the Walter Dorwin Teague Documentary.

August 2012: Prof. Jason Morris presents Transforming Design Education with Video at the IDSA International Conference, Boston, MA

June 2012: WWU ID students get highly competitive internships including Astro Studios, General Electric, Gerber (knives), Rocketship, Expedia, K2, Intel, Allsop and others.

WWU ID sophomores win $6000 in scholarships from Mount Baker Plywood. The students designed, built and donated plywood furniture for local non-profit organizations.

May 2012: Prof. Jason Morris planned the design conference Breaking Boundaries, the IDSA Western Design Dialogue, Seattle, WA.

Ryan Hume is awarded ID senior of the year and the IDSA student merit award winner.

April 2012: Prof. Jason Morris delivered the keynote presentation "Encouraging Creativity" at the Northwest Council of Managers of Educational Technology annual conference.

March 2012: WWU ID Juniors design interaction and UX concepts featured on Youtube.

February 2012: WWU ID Juniors design unique space designs, translating sculptures into restaurant and store designs.

January 2012: WWU ID students win multiple design awards at the Shaggies, the Northwest Design Invitational Awards 2011. Larisa Schulze won a Silver, Samuel Martin won a Bronze, and Thomas Kloucek won Bronze.

December 2011: WWU ID Juniors worked with Extrasport/Necky Kayak on new concept designs for personal flotation devices for kayaking. Extrasport awarded two kayaks to the top designers!

Prof. Oslapas just returned from 3 months in Kathmandu, Nepal working with local craftsmen on creating new designs for a Western market.

September 2011, New Orleans: WWU ID Prof. Del King was awarded the IDSA educator of the year at the IDSA International Conference.

July 2011: WWU ID student, Kristen Barcheski wins 1st Place in the Student Design Scholarship for Rotationally Molded Products 2011.

April 2011: WWU ID students judged best in the Northwest by IDSA professionals. Sarah Blott was awarded Senior student merit winner and best senior in show. Anna Perella was awarded the WWU Junior of the year. Ryan Hume was named best junior student in show.
