Sweden: Luleå University of Technology
Luleå is a seaport city with a population of about 70,000. It is located south of the Arctic Circle on an archipelago, which has more than 500 islands in northern Sweden. Stretching inland from Luleå are vast expanses of forests, mountains, and rivers – a region often described as the last wilds of Europe. The city center is located on a peninsula where the Lule River flows. The climate is similar to the Great Lakes region.
Academic Program Description
The main campus of Luleå University of Technology is located near the city center. There are about 12,000 students enrolled at the university, including about 200 exchange students. Luleå University of Technology offers various academic disciplines, including technology, business economics and management, pedagogy, music, arts and the social sciences. More than 300 courses are offered in all departments (especially Engineering, Business, Drama, Health Sciences, and Music. Classes are taught in English. The university offers over 200 courses available in English. Classes include Swedish students and other international students.

Housing
Exchange students are guaranteed housing provided that arrival is no later than 2 weeks after the start of the terms. Most live in single furnished rooms in a student dorm or share an apartment.
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum 2.5 GPA with completion of minimum 30 credits at WWU by start of the exchange
- Junior or senior status
- Application approval by the IPE committee
Application Procedure
- Complete Luleå University of Technology application and submit with official academic transcripts
- Complete IPE Study Abroad/Exchange Application and submit with the Direct Exchange Academic Reference form and a statement of purpose
- Pay IPE application fee and concurrent enrollment fee for first quarter of exchange
- Application will be approved by a committee before the nomination is forwarded
- Once accepted, student must contact the Swedish embassy or consulate to obtain an entry visa and a residence permit which may take up to three months to process
