Mexico: Morelia
The International Programs and Exchanges offer an exchange program in Mexico at the Universidad Latina de America (UNLA); a small liberal arts school located on the outskirts of Morelia, an urban city with a provincial atmosphere. Morelia is located halfway between Mexico City and Guadalajara in the beautiful central highlands. Courses are taught in Spanish.
Academic Program Dates
Students have the option of staying one full academic year (Sept-June) or one or two quarters (fall, winter, or spring). There is also a summer program available.
Housing
A variety of home-stays are available.
Scholarships
There are presently no scholarships available for this program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum 2.5 GPA with completion of at least 30 credits by beginning of exchange
- A minimum language level of 305 and preferably 405 in Spanish is required. Please consult with a professor in the WWU Spanish language department about your language proficiency. Students will be expected to function entirely in Spanish in university-level courses.
Application Procedure
- Complete the Universidad Latina de America (UNLA) application form and submit along with a black and white photo, official transcripts from colleges/universities attended, a letter from an academic reference, and completed essays. The essays must be typewritten.
- Complete IPE Study Abroad/Exchange Application with statement of purpose
- Pay IPE application fee and concurrent enrollment fee for first quarter of exchange
- Once accepted, a letter of acceptance is sent to the student which is used to obtain the student visa from the Mexican embassy or consulate
