Japan: Tsuda College
Tsuda College is a private, four-year women's college, founded by Umeko Tsuda in 1900 to provide Japanese women with the opportunity to obtain a higher education. Umeko was one of the first of five Japanese women to study abroad at the age of seven. The campus is located in Kodaira, Tokyo, a quiet residential area less than forty minutes from Shinjuku.
Academic Program Description
Exchange students study intensive Japanese language and an introduction to Japanese Studies. Students with advanced Japanese language may enroll in courses offered in English, international and cultural studies and mathematics and computer science.

Housing
Tsuda College has three dormitories for students: East Dormitory, West Dormitory and White Plum Dormitory. Each room has an air-conditioner and telephone.
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum 2.5 GPA with completion of at least 30 credits at WWU by beginning of exchange
- Application approval by the IPE committee
Application Procedure
- Complete Tsuda College Application for Admission as an International Exchange Student and Application for Certificate of Eligibility; submit along with official academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation from academic references, health certificate and four passport-type photos
- Complete International Programs & Exchanges Study Abroad/Exchange Application
- Pay IPE application deposit.
- Application will be approved by the committee and forwarded to Tsuda College for nomination
- Once accepted, Tsuda College will send a letter of offer and Certificate of Admission
- Tsuda College will apply for the Certificate of Eligibility, which will be sent to the student to be used to obtain a student visa from the Japanese Consulate in Seattle

- Fall quarter/Academic Year: March 1st*
- Winter/Spring quarters: June 1st*
- Late applications considered on a case by case basis.
- * If the deadline occurs on a weekend, applications will be accepted on the following Monday.
