Deanne Fitzmaurice was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for her photo story about an Iraqi boy who came to America for medical treatment. Deanne is a compassionate storyteller whose photographs have appeared in numerous magazines including Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated.
She has also received awards from Pictures of the Year and Best of Photojournalism and was a finalist for the UNICEF Photo of the Year. Deanne has embraced multimedia and her stories have aired on MSNBC. She worked as a photojournalist for the San Francisco Chronicle for 18 years before becoming an independent photographer.
Deanne is a frequent lecturer about photojournalism and multimedia throughout the country and is a co-founder of Think Tank Photo, a California-based camera bag company.
