Golden rules to volunteering and receiving extra credit

We want this process to run as smoothly as possible. Please read the information below carefully before signing up for a work party.

  1. Sign up for an event individually (i.e. do not sign up for your friends). Be sure give us your name, student number (W#), date and location of the work party you would like to attend, and email address. If you call to sign up please talk slowly and leave us all of this information AND your phone number in a message.
  1. You are not officially signed up for an LEAD event until you have received a confirmation from the LEAD staff (via email or phone). If you do not receive a reply within a few days, then we have not received your request.
  1. Discuss the specifics of your write-up with your professor or TA. LEAD is not responsible for the write-up portion of your extra credit project.
  1. If you are late to a work party you will not be given credit. Check directions carefully and allow yourself adequate time to reach the site. If you are unsure of the site location ask the LEAD staff, look it up on an online map, or reference a Bellingham city map. Do not wait until the last minute to find out how to get to the site.
  1. If you are unable to attend an event, you must notify the LEAD staff by the Monday, prior to the event. No shows will not be allowed to sign up for future events. However, exceptions will be made for emergencies.
  1. The LEAD staff does not hold weekend office hours.
  1. Transportation will not be provided unless otherwise stated in the work party description. Be sure to arrange transportation or check the bus schedule prior to signing up. With adequate notice, LEAD can often assist you in arranging a carpool. Check out our Facebook Page and talk to your classmates about carpooling!

  1. Please do not wait until the last minute to sign up or cancel - space is limited and work parties fill up quickly!

  1. Do not hesitate to contact the LEAD staff with a question or concern.

  1. Dress appropriately, and bring water and snacks.

  2. If you are unable to attend Saturday work parties due to work or injury please contact the LEAD staff via email or telephone and we will make accommodations for you. However, you must understand that you will still need to notify us early in the quarter.
