Learning Technology
The Learning Technology Group at Western is a new effort by Academic Technology and User Services, working with the Center for Instructional Innovation and Assessment, to engage faculty in implementing and evaluating new technologies for teaching.
We are interested in engaging faculty in a discussion, both online and in person, about the technologies that matter to them in their teaching practice.
The topics of our discussions may include - but won't be limited to - all of these technology-oriented topics as they relate to higher education:
| Blackboard Learn (our campus LMS) | Discussion boards | Social media (Facebook/Twitter/etc.) |
| Lecture capture/Screencasting (Camtasia Relay) | eBooks, iBooks, and ePublishing | Integrated E-textbooks |
| Web conferencing (Elluminate) | Blogs, Journals, Wikis | E-copyright issues |
| Online video (YouTube and beyond ...) | Open-source software (Moodle/Drupal/etc.) | Classroom response tools (Clickers) |
And, of course, anything that you want to bring to the table.
As a starting point for communicating with the group online as well as in person, we have established a blog and community site on the free, open source DrupalGardens service. Come join us in talking about issues in learning technology!
