Huxley Map Library
Started in 1957 by the Geography Department, Western's Map Collection is the second largest in Washington State, and regarded as a major map collection in the United States.
The Map Library, located on WWU's campus in Arntzen Hall 101, serves not only the University community but the public as well. Parking is available in lot 17-V adjacent to the building (a permit from the Visitor's Information Center is necessary).
The Map Library has depository agreements with a number of government map publishing agencies: the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Ocean Service (NOS, formerly the Coast and Geodetic Survey) which is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (formerly National Imagery and Mapping Agency), Washington State Department of Natural Resources, and the Canada Map Office (Natural Resources Canada).
