If you are a current Mathes resident, then take a look around! This site is here to help keep you connected to what's going on in the hall. If you are just checking out Mathes for the first time, we hope this website can help you to discover a little about our community.
If you are familiar with Western's campus, you might know Mathes as the tall brick building with the sweet view of the bay. However, we have a lot more than that to offer. For instance, we have an awesome blend of incoming Freshmen and Sophomores, transfer students, and even some tenacious upperclassmen! Something that everyone notices about Mathes is that it is an engaging community. There are often crowds of residents attending the multiple social and out-of-class educational opportunities that are provided by community staff and residents. On the floors, you will find doors open and people in the hallways chatting (before quiet hours, of course...). You will also see that Mathes residents take an active role in making our hall into an excellent community. On any Monday night you can attend the Mathes Hall Council, where students plan upcoming events, give input on decisions affecting the community, find out about speakers and other events on campus, and learn about community service opportunities. We have created an environment where students can get the studying and the sleep that they need to be successful in school (that is why we are here) while also having a tons of fun.
It's not just us talking up how great the hall is: Mathes has won the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) Award for Western's "Hall of the Year" in the years '04 and '05. Mathes also went on to win the regional "Community of the Year award" on '06 and '07. But don't take our word for it, have a look at the website and see more of what makes us awesome!
