Can we decouple cell cycle synchrony in A. elegantissima and S. muscatinei?

Set up of light and feeding treatments

To determine the effect of nutrition on host and symbionts cell cycles, anemones were exposed to four light and feeding treatments (listed above).

Treatments were continued for 7 days. Afterwards, tentacles were removed and gastrodermal cells were lysed. Chlorophyll was removed from the symbionts and all nuclei were dyed with propidium bromide. Samples were then run through a flow cytometer and the percentage of cells in each cell cycle phase was determined.
