Western's music education program is widely recognized for its commitment to producing and placing the highest quality teachers and musicians. It features an outstanding faculty dedicated to the personal and professional development of its students, a comprehensive curriculum which is responsive to educational change as well as student interest and needs, access to current educational technology, excellent mentoring in practica and student teaching programs, and a highly active collegiate chapter of the Music Educator's National Conference.

The music education program intensively involves its students in micro-teaching/field experiences with local public school music programs to provide practical teaching experience early and throughout the degree program under the direct guidance of the faculty. These experiences are invaluable in effectively preparing our graduates to become certified to teach music at the elementary through secondary levels of education and to inspire the next generation of music students.
