Piano
The piano program at Western offers a wide variety of opportunities for students pursuing degrees in Piano Performance, Music Education, composition, and Music History & Literature. Numerous piano scholarships are awarded on the basis of performing excellence in annual auditions and quarterly juries. Weekly performance classes offer a wonderful opportunity to perform on three 9-foot Steinway concert grand pianos in Western's superb Concert Hall. Regular access to Steinway grand pianos for practicing is also available in all piano practice rooms. Other performance opportunities include concerto performances with orchestra, chamber music collaboration, contemporary music, and Collegium, an early music ensemble. In addition to the piano program's distinguished faculty, students have contact with world-renowned guest artists on a regular basis for recitals and master classes.
