Voice and Choirs
Western's vocal program has earned a reputation as one of the finest university programs in the state. The WWU Concert Choir has been chosen to perform at recent national and divisional conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference, while Western's opera program is known for its award-winning productions. A number of vocal program alumni have gone on to successful performance careers in opera and musical theater, while others have become accomplished private studio instructors, music teachers, and conductors.
There are performing opportunities for everyone in Western's choral program in both auditioned and non-auditioned choirs and in WWU's opera program. Singers in the choral program are also encouraged to study voice privately, increasing vocal skills to complement their musical knowledge and performance experience. If you have any questions, consult the Vocal Area FAQ.
