Nicole Barnes, a native of Tacoma, has been a guest performer with many well-known groups including the Boston Civic Orchestra, the Boston Arts Academy, the Seattle Symphony, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, the Tanglewood Contemporary Orchestra and the North Seattle Symphonic Band. Overseas Ms. Barnes has toured the Netherlands with the Boston-based Thump Saxophone Quartet and had performed for large audiences with the UW Saxophone Quartet in Japan. Ms. Barnes' achievements include being a member of the NEC Honors group Die Surkel, becoming the first undergraduate in the United States to premiere David Kechley's "Restless Birds Before the Dark Moon" in 2004 and winning first place in the 12th Annual Concerto Competition at the University of Washington in 2003. Nicole received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Washington and her Masters of Music in Saxophone Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston. Her previous teachers include Tracy Knoop, Michael Brockman and Kenneth Radnofsky, and Nicole has been in masterclasses with Jean-Marie Londeix, Eugene Rousseau, Joe Murphy and the Rascher Quartet. She now resides in Seattle where she performs and tours with the Northstar Saxophone Quartet.
