Dr. Stambaugh teaches courses in music education and supervises instrumental student teachers. Previously, she taught beginning band, middle school band and jazz band, chamber ensembles and chorus for eleven years in New Hampshire. In addition, she was Assistant Conductor and principal oboist in the Seacoast Wind Ensemble (ME).
Dr. Stambaugh’s primary research area examines instrumental music learning from motor learning perspectives. Secondary interests include musical enculturation, teaching adult amateur learners and special learners in music education. She has presented at state, regional and national MENC Conferences, as well as at the International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition. Her articles appear in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Music Educators Journal and Teaching Music.
